Miss Selena

Miss Selena has been an instructor at Wainwright Dance Academy for four years, and has been dancing since the age of ten.

She has just finished her Early Learning and Childcare certificate at Lakeland College, as well as an Administration Professional's course. She currently teaches variety, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary, but has experience in other styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom, and bollywood.

In her earlier years, Selena was fortunate enough to receive numerous awards such as Junior Miss Dance 2015, Most Potential Soloist, Top Young Choreographer, and many cash rewards. In 2016, she traveled to Mont Tremblant, Quebec, to compete at Dance World Cup, receiving the third place (bronze) soloist. In 2019, two of her three solos also qualified for Dance World Cup, located in Whistler, BC.

In addition to her awards, she has participated in many workshops and conventions taught by choreographers in the dance industry. Some include Eddie Garcia (Michael Jackson World Tours), Jonnis Tannis, Tara-Jean Popowich, and Peter Sabasino (SYTYCD), Stacey & Liz Tookey, Micheal Ward, Debbie Allen, Mark Meismer, and Alex Pesusich.

In her four years of teaching and choreographing, Miss Selena received the Top Young Choreographer award in both 2017 & 2018. For the past couple of summers she has also taken part in co-running a two day dance camp for children ages 3-14. In the fall of 2019, she was asked choreograph for her local adult theatre group (Theatre 75) for their eight day production of Mamma Mia!

Miss Selena is very excited to share her knowledge, creativity, and love of dance to her students!
